DAMN° — Issue 92 / Roots of Meaning

Spring/Summer #92

For DAMN° magazine issue 92, Studio Unfold will create the 'artist pages', focusing on the issue's theme of 'Roots of Meaning.'  Studio Unfold founded in 2002 by Claire Warnier and Dries Ver bruggen, is a multidisciplinary, collaborative experimental creative platform.

Combining design, art, and technology, the studio explores new ways of creation, production, and distribution in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Known for their groundbreaking work in 3D printing, such as the mobile 3D print station Kiosk and
the innovative L'Artisan éle ronique printer, Unfold blends traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge digital techniques.

Their projects delve into the merging of pre-indudustrial craft economies with high-tech industrial production, exploring the role of the designer in this changing context. Unfold’s approach to design is both critical and experimental, constantly pushing boundaries and embracing new technologies.

The studio’s ability to weave together ancestral knowledge and contemporary pratice, with a sharp eye on society and the future, makes them the perfect fit to explore how stories, traditions, and place can resonate in modern design. Their work shows how forgotten narratives and practices can be reactivated, honoring their origins while opening up new ways of thinking and making

DAMN° remains one of the more rigorous independent design magazines in Europe, positioned for working practitioners and serious readers. The guest-curator model brings fresh perspectives across disciplines from issue to issue. Quarterly. UK cover price £21.
